The water level in your body

How to maintain the water level in your body in the summer

Maintaining the level of water in your body in the summer is necessary to prevent diseases and many other important things you will find in this article. Summer features late-night barbecues, pools, and beaches. Despite the benefits of enjoying the sun, you need to make sure that you maintain the hydration level in your body. Follow these appropriate hydration tips.

Symptoms of heat exhaustion

Heat exhaustion is your body’s way of telling you to increase your water intake. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, there are signs that warn us that we need water:

  • Cool and hydrated skin
  • Dizziness
  • Fainting
  • Fast and weak pulse
  • Headache
  • Heavy sweating
  • Muscle weakness
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Feeling tired and tired

If you feel any of the above signs after spending some time in the sun, sit in the shade and start drinking water.

Drink plenty of fluids

The importance of drinking water cannot be underestimated at any time, especially in the summer. In fact, men need about 3.7 liters of water per day, while women need about 2.7 liters of water per day. This equates to 15.5 and 11.5 cups, respectively.

If you find it difficult to accept this amount, try refrigerating the water or adding some flavoring. Fruit-infused water is an excellent choice for a delicious drink without much sweetening.

Cut down on coffee and soft drinks

Unfortunately, drinking more fluids does not mean drinking coffee or soft drinks. Some studies have shown that caffeine does not dehydrate you, but it can cause symptoms such as headaches and insomnia that heat exacerbates.

You can drink caffeinated beverages in small to moderate amounts, but sticking to water is the best way to maintain your hydration level.

Eat foods with a high water content

Did you know that you can also get some fluids from what you eat? In fact, about 20% of your daily water comes from food.

There are many foods that are high in water. Here are a few fruits and vegetables that you can add to your diet to boost hydration:

  • Cucumber – 95% water
  • Celery – 95% water
  • Lettuce – 95% water
  • Zucchini – 95% water
  • Cauliflower – 92% water
  • Watermelon – 91% water
  • Strawberry – 91% water
