Important departments in the Water Services Agency in Saudi

The Water Services Agency was established by virtue of the decision of His Excellency the Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture No. (649/1) dated 08/17/1438 AH under the name (Agency of the Ministry for Water Directorates Affairs). Its name has been modified to be (Agency for Water Services) by virtue of the decision of His Excellency the Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture No. (169/1/1438) dated 3/16/1438 AH.​

Duties and Responsibilities of the Water Services Agency

Follow up and develop projects to obtain the best possible quality. In this regard, several workshops have been conducted to develop and standardize contracts in all public administrations for water services in the regions of the Kingdom. Work is currently underway to implement it to solve many of the negatives facing water services in the Kingdom.

The agency is also urgently seeking to activate the citizen’s voice service role. This is done by setting up a unified number to deliver the citizen’s voice and to know the obstacles they face in delivering the service to them to the fullest. The agency has been interested in establishing specialized departments in every field to develop and monitor business in the regions and follow them closely to raise the level of service and its efficiency. It also supported the general departments of water services in the regions of the Kingdom with regard to the operation and maintenance of all facilities. In order to preserve it and to increase its life span.

General Administration for Planning and Monitoring the Performance of Water Services

This department was recently created within the new organizational structure of the ministry and is concerned with setting performance indicators for water services in projects, operation, maintenance, sanitation, and customer service. and then measuring them according to the approved standards.

General Administration of Industrial Security

The Industrial Security Department is one of the departments associated with the Ministry’s Agency for Water Services. and it follows up the preventive measures in the Ministry that aim to protect the human element from work hazards, preserve property from disasters, and work on the continuity of production by providing a safe work environment free from the causes of disasters, accidents, injuries, and diseases. The department is linked to the Higher Authority for Industrial Security at the Ministry of Interior and represents the ministry before all security and specialized authorities such as civil defense, police, and facility security.

General Administration of Sanitation

The General Department of Sanitation was restructured by Ministerial Resolution No. (189/1/1428) dated 2/22/1428 AH as one of the main departments in the Water Services Agency and is responsible for supervising sewage services, providing operational and technical support, and achieving environmental commitment in the sanitation sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It seeks to provide sewage services and benefit from treated water within the initiatives of the National Transformation Program 2020 and the Kingdom’s vision in 2030.

The administration aims to improve sanitation services, expand sewage collection networks in all regions, control the environmental effects associated with operational operations in collection networks and treatment plants, address environmental problems that result from the absence of service in cities, governorates, and centers, as well as control the quality of treated water to enhance opportunities Benefiting from this sustainable resource, the safe disposal of sludge produced from treatment plants. The administration also contributes to the preparation and review of technical specifications and standards for sanitary drainage and procedures for licensing sanitary facilities and facilities.

General Administration of Operation and Maintenance

This department was established to support the general directorates of water in the regions of the Kingdom in the field of operation and maintenance of all facilities to preserve them and increase their life span by monitoring the performance of operating work and maintenance implementation processes.

It also monitors the quality and quality of water and follows up the performance of the entire equipment of stations and facilities, in order to ensure the continuity of their operation in accordance with the specifications approved for them.

The department undertakes field supervision of the maintenance work that is awarded to the competent contractors and conducts tours of all facilities to inspect all equipment on a daily basis.

General Administration of Engineering and Projects

It was established in its new guise on 3/22/1438 AH. Based on Ministerial Resolution No. (189/1/1438) to achieve the aspirations and challenges of the National Transformation Program 2020. And the vision of 2030 for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

This department is responsible for engineering affairs and project management for all agencies of the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture. This department is also concerned with enhancing surface water sources through the construction of large, medium, and small dams. To seize torrential water on valley streams to harvest rain to provide water sustainability and achieve water security for drinking and various purposes and to recharge the aquifers.

The General Directorate of Engineering and Projects also seeks to improve the infrastructure of water projects and provide advanced services. And the water of high quality and reliability to all citizens in the various regions of the Kingdom. which are witnessing an increasing growth in water demand.

This department is also concerned with reusing treated wastewater projects for use in restricted agriculture, industry, recreational purposes, parks, and cooling purposes.

The implementation of these water projects is based on planning, preparing studies, designs, standard specifications, and quality control for those projects.

This department contributes to providing technical support to all directorates of the ministry. and its branches in the various regions of the Kingdom.

Customer Service Management

This department is responsible for meeting the needs of customers, and guiding them to the correct procedures. It is also interested in receiving complaints and suggestions to reach the best way to improve the services provided.
