Advantages of using Spindles

Advantages of using Spindles

There are multiple advantages of using spindles, as they are a suitable solution for a number of pipeline problems in various applications. They are used to access the operation of valves installed underground or above ground in places that are difficult to access easily. They are easy to use and made of corrosion-resistant materials on modern and fully automated production equipment to ensure uniform and long-lasting quality.

What is a Spindle?

A Spindle is a shaft that is installed inside a plastic protection tube to allow free rotation to open and close the valve and to transmit movement by a T-Key to the valve through a surface box.

A cap is attached to the spindle from the top to fit the key. A rotating shaft is attached to the valve from the bottom by a coupling cap. Sometimes the metal shaft is dispensed with and the plastic protection tube is sufficient.

Components of Spindles

A spindle consists of a main body, a valve disc, and a pre-formed annular valve seat. In addition, a layer of insulation is usually applied to the core head. The insulation layer is chosen in response to the material used in the valve.

Then a layer of insulation is poured into the space between the core head and the rim portion of the core head. The thickness of the insulation layer determines this distance. After a suitable period of time, the coating powder is applied to the core head.

The elongation shaft is a part of the combustion engine and is used to control the flow of air and other gases. It is usually made of medium carbon construction steel. However, the valve disc can also be coated with a corrosion-resistant coating.

Advantages of using Spindles Elongation Shafts

Ease of use and long-lasting quality

Our elongation shafts are designed for ease of use. It has features that ensure easy installation and easy length adjustment on site. Easy operation of the valves is ensured by the bottom covers of the shafts that protect the valve stems from impurities and enable them to rotate freely – and by high, uniform, and long-lasting quality.

Standard manufacturing materials

The elongation shafts are designed with polyethylene outer tubes and bottom covers. The main adapters at the top and stem adapters at the bottom are cast stainless steel. Inner tubes are galvanized steel. The inner tube is press-fitted to the main adapter and stems to protect the tube from corrosion. As a final step in the production process, the extended shafts are torque-tested to 675 Nm (depending on size) to ensure durability.

Easy to install

The extension shafts for service connection valves also feature the Safe Click three-step installation process where a quick clamp secures the connection between the valve stem and the lower adapter of the extended shaft and allows for tool-free installation and disassembly.

Different types of extension Spindles

Fixed-length extension Spindles for gate valves and service connection valves

A fixed-length extension shaft is usually used when the distance between the valve and the ground surface is known. However, it is possible to shorten the extended shaft quickly and easily.

Extension shafts are available with a tube cap in different sizes, corresponding to the distance from the top of the pipeline to the top of the deck box mounted above the extension shaft.

Fixed Length Extension Spindles with Solid Inner Rod

We also offer variants with solid inner rods. The shaft is made of steel and the upper key adapter and lower valve stem adapter are made of galvanized ductile iron.

Telescopic Extension Spindles for Gate Valves and Service Connection Valves

The Telescopic extension Spindles are typically used when the distance between the valve and the ground surface is unknown. The extension shaft length will need to be adjusted after installation.

Telescopic Extension Spindles for Double Eccentric Butterfly Valves

The variants for double eccentric butterfly valves also offer the same basic features as those for gate valves. The only difference is that they are designed with a special bottom cover. That encloses the input shaft of the valve gearbox and the extension shaft is fixed by a quick-release clamp similar to the clamp used for service connection valves.

Extendable Extension Spindles for Ball Valves

The variants for ball valves offer the same features as the telescopic extendable extension shafts for gate valves.
